Bill Spurlock wins 2007 DU ROCK

Ducks Unlimited continued its sponsorship of Arkansas’ premier skeet shoot by welcoming scores of shooters from many states to the annual classic held at Blue Rock Sportsmen’s Club.  The shoot was kicked off Friday afternoon with Texan Pat Byrne firing a perfect score in the doubles event to defeat runner up and third place finisher Stewart McCoin and Bill Spurlock. Following the shoot offs everyone was treated to the social hour (hours) by world famous bartenders Buck, Gary and Hal Matthews. David Robustelli continued his tradition of a fantastic home cooked Italian feast that is always the hit of the shoot.

Saturday evening’s events were concluded with Tommy Moore, Steve King and Ryan Howell taking champ, runner up and third in the 12ga from a dozen perfect scores. UK’s Babette Burley swept all the ladies championships except the 20ga which was won by Dr.Jim Costin’s daughter, Crissy.
Missourian Bill Spurlock out lasted Arkansans Hal Matthews and Steve King in a shoot off that seemed to go on for hours for the 20ga crown. Texans Pat Byrne and John Bulger looked undefeatable as a two man team, sweeping all titles except the 20ga which was taken in a multi box shoot off by twins Gary and Hal Matthews.  After another fine evening of food and drink, Sunday’s 28ga championship was won by Blue Rock director and tireless worker for the DU cause, Frank Scalia. Runner up and third was decided in an extended shoot off won by Mike Jordan and John Crawford.

Tommy Moore captured his second championship with the .410 with a perfect score defeating Pat Byrne who was posting 100s like this was his home club. Although Bill Spurlock missed the .410 championship shoot off by one bird, he turned in a fine 398 for the undisputed HOA win. Thanks to all who supported our shoot with their attendance  As always, we hope you had a good time. Thank you Ducks Unlimited for your sponsorship, wild life prints and for the special DU shotgun bracket event.  Special thanks to Wayne Black for the countless hours he donates to make sure that everything goes so smoothly.
